Best fit: large homes with high electrical demand that want the most capacity available in this air-cooled range, after a load review confirms it is the right call over a liquid-cooled unit.

At 240V the 28kW supplies up to 116 amps on propane and 104 amps on natural gas. The difference between fuels is the largest in this range, so a home on natural gas should size against 25 kW rather than the headline 28 kW.
If your load review comes out above this, the next step is a liquid-cooled unit such as the 32kW. Those are larger machines with different pad, fuel and maintenance needs, so it is worth comparing both before deciding.
Platinum sizing recommendation: If you are looking at a 28kW, we want to see the numbers. Our team reviews your panel, your starting loads and your fuel supply to confirm whether the 28kW, a smaller unit with load management, or a liquid-cooled generator is the better fit.
It needs a 12V AGM Group BTX20L battery rated at 310 CCA or more, which is not included. Fuel pipe must be sized for full load: 8.41 m³/hr of natural gas or 15.02 L/hr of propane. Generac’s 28kW bundle (G007329-0) also includes an ecobee by Generac Smart Thermostat for HVAC load management.
Generac also sells this size as a bundle with a 200A service-rated transfer switch (G007329-0). Per Generac’s sheet, the cETL certification applies to the unbundled generator, and bundled units are ETL certified for the USA only, so for a Canadian install ask us which generator and Canada-listed switch, such as the RXSW200A3CUL, to pair.
