Automatic Backup
Paired with an automatic transfer switch, the generator senses the outage, starts on its own and restores power to the circuits it was wired for.
5-Time #1 Generac Dealer in Canada
When the grid fails, your home doesn’t have to. The Generac 26kW Home Standby Generator is a permanently installed backup power system that automatically detects a utility outage and restores power through a compatible automatic transfer switch helping keep essential circuits and comfort systems running (HVAC blowers, sump pumps, refrigeration, internet, lighting, and more).
This next-generation platform pairs Generac’s G-Force™ 1000 Series engine with the Power Zone™ 200 controller and Mobile Link® connectivity (cellular standard, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) so you can monitor readiness, receive alerts, and stay confident your backup system is prepared.

Best fit: large homes that have outgrown a 24kW on paper, including properties with larger central air systems, several motor loads or a heavy kitchen and laundry load, after a load review.
Paired with an automatic transfer switch, the generator senses the outage, starts on its own and restores power to the circuits it was wired for.
Cellular connectivity is standard, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Check status, exercise and run hours, maintenance alerts and battery condition from your phone.
Less than 5% total harmonic distortion, so computers, variable-speed HVAC and other sensitive equipment run on clean power.
A sound-attenuated aluminum enclosure rated for winds up to 150 mph (241 km/h), with a hinged locking roof and lift-out front for service.
Clear AUTO, MANUAL, OFF and SERVICE buttons, LED status, utility voltage sensing and 50-event run, alarm and maintenance logs.
A 5 to 20 minute self-test you can set weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, with a low-speed Quiet-Test mode at 55 dB(A).
At 240V the 26kW supplies up to 108 amps on propane and 100 amps on natural gas. It is noticeably heavier than the 24kW at 524 lb (238 kg), which matters when planning the pad and the delivery route to the install location.
On natural gas it is worth checking the meter as well as the panel. At full load this unit burns 8.96 m³/hr, the highest natural gas figure in Generac’s 22 to 28kW range, so the gas service and pipe sizing are part of the sizing conversation.
Platinum sizing recommendation: We confirm a 26kW against your actual loads and your gas or propane supply. If your home sits between sizes, we will show you what the 24kW or 28kW would change so you can decide with real numbers.
It needs a 12V AGM Group BTX20L battery rated at 310 CCA or more, which is not included. On propane, fuel use is 7.74 L/hr at half load and 14.94 L/hr at full load, so plan your tank size around how long you expect to run.
Generac also sells this size as a bundle with a 200A service-rated transfer switch (G007328-0). Per Generac’s sheet, the cETL certification applies to the unbundled generator, and bundled units are ETL certified for the USA only, so for a Canadian install ask us which generator and Canada-listed switch, such as the RXSW200A3CUL, to pair.
Generator Experts is the generator side of Platinum Electrical Contractors, a licensed Ontario electrical contractor working since 1991. We handle the 26kW from sizing to generator installation, supply the right transfer switches and concrete generator pads, and look after it with maintenance plans and service and repair. For Ontario winters, ask us about cold weather kits. Financing and monthly rental are available if you would rather not pay all at once.
We can confirm whether the 26kW fits your home or whether a smaller or larger Generac model would be a better match.
