Automatic Backup
Paired with an automatic transfer switch, the generator senses the outage, starts on its own and restores power to the circuits it was wired for.
5-Time #1 Generac Dealer in Canada
When the utility power fails, your home doesn’t have to. The Generac 22kW Home standby generator is a permanently installed backup power system that automatically detects an outage and restores power through a compatible automatic transfer switch helping keep essential circuits and comfort systems running (HVAC blowers, sump pumps, refrigeration, internet, lighting, and more).
This next-generation platform combines Generac’s purpose-built G-Force™ engine design, Power Zone™ 200 controller, and Mobile Link® connectivity (cellular standard, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) for smart monitoring and dependable standby performance.

Best fit: mid-size to larger homes on 200A service that want most circuits backed up, including a furnace, a well or sump pump, kitchen appliances and one central air conditioner, after a load review.
Paired with an automatic transfer switch, the generator senses the outage, starts on its own and restores power to the circuits it was wired for.
Cellular connectivity is standard, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Check status, exercise and run hours, maintenance alerts and battery condition from your phone.
Less than 5% total harmonic distortion, so computers, variable-speed HVAC and other sensitive equipment run on clean power.
A sound-attenuated aluminum enclosure rated for winds up to 150 mph (241 km/h), with a hinged locking roof and lift-out front for service.
Clear AUTO, MANUAL, OFF and SERVICE buttons, LED status, utility voltage sensing and 50-event run, alarm and maintenance logs.
A 5 to 20 minute self-test you can set weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, with a low-speed Quiet-Test mode at 55 dB(A).
At 240V the 22kW supplies up to 92 amps on propane and 88 amps on natural gas. That is a meaningful step up from the 18kW’s 75 and 71 amps, and it is often what lets a house keep central air or a well pump running alongside everyday circuits.
It is not automatically whole-home. Electric water heaters, ranges, dryers, EV chargers and second air conditioners can add up quickly, and motor starting loads matter as much as running watts. Load managers can help a 22kW carry large loads without oversizing.
Platinum sizing recommendation: A 22kW suits many larger homes, but we confirm it against your panel, your gas meter or propane tank, and the starting loads in your house before recommending it over a 18kW or 24kW.
The 22kW shares its 46.4 x 26.3 x 30.7 in enclosure with the rest of the 22 to 28kW range, and weighs 451 lb (205 kg) without the battery. It needs a 12V AGM Group BTX20L battery rated at 310 CCA or more, which is not included. Fuel pipe must be sized for full load: 8.80 m³/hr of natural gas or 14.03 L/hr of propane.
Generac also sells this size as a bundle with a 200A service-rated transfer switch (G007325-0). Per Generac’s sheet, the cETL certification applies to the unbundled generator, and bundled units are ETL certified for the USA only, so for a Canadian install ask us which generator and Canada-listed switch, such as the RXSW200A3CUL, to pair.
Generator Experts is the generator side of Platinum Electrical Contractors, a licensed Ontario electrical contractor working since 1991. We handle the 22kW from sizing to generator installation, supply the right transfer switches and concrete generator pads, and look after it with maintenance plans and service and repair. For Ontario winters, ask us about cold weather kits. Financing and monthly rental are available if you would rather not pay all at once.
We can confirm whether the 22kW fits your home or whether a smaller or larger Generac model would be a better match.
